Being Investigated by ACS or CPS

being-investigated-by-acs-or-cps-imgACS stands for the Administration of Children’s Services which investigates child abuse and child maltreatment clients within the five boroughs of the City of New York, CPS stands for Child Protective Services which investigates issues involving child abuse and child maltreatment throughout the rest of the State of New York.

A Child Abuse Claim is Filed Against You

Upon becoming aware that you are a subject of the child abuse or child neglect investigation you may be confused and intimidated. You may not have any idea as to why you are being investigated. The potential that someone could actually come into your house and remove the children you love is shocking. You are asked to respond to a stranger questioning you about your parenting decisions! Will a Judge make a decision involving how you raise your children? How should you deal with these unique circumstances?

Innocent Families

Unfortunately many innocent families are subject to investigations by CPS and ACS. Sometimes these investigations are called in by individuals at schools, neighbors, people who have a grudge against you, and/or former lovers. The best way to deal with a situation of this nature is to speak to a CPS lawyer before getting involved with answering questions by an ACS or CPS investigator.
